The default Stripe affiliate tool: $49 Starter, $99 Growth, then an Enterprise ladder that climbs with referred revenue, including renewals you no longer pay commission on. Stable owner, huge community, easy export, single-tier. The revenue limit is the whole story.
Rewardful is the tool people recommend when you ask "what should I use for affiliates on Stripe?" It has been for years. Ask in an indie hacker forum and the first reply is Rewardful, the second is "I use Rewardful too," and the third is someone who left it.
I'm an affiliate in a program that runs on it, so I see the portal and the commission emails from the receiving end. I haven't run a merchant account. What follows is their pricing schedule, their help centre, the switching stories people have published, and my own inbox.
Disclosure: the link on this page is my affiliate link. Rewardful pays me if you sign up through it. That hasn't changed a word of what follows, and you can go to rewardful.com directly if you'd rather.
SaaS on Stripe or Paddle that wants the safe choice. Rewardful has the biggest community of people who've already done exactly what you're about to do, the most tutorials, and the most "here's my setup" blog posts. If you want to copy someone's homework, this is the tool with the most homework to copy.
It's owned by saas.group, who buy and hold bootstrapped software companies. That's a point in its favour. It's not going to get acquired by a payments company and wound down, and it's not going to be sold to private equity next year.
Anyone who needs multi-tier. Single-tier only.
Anyone not on Stripe or Paddle. Those are the two native integrations. There are "20+ platforms" listed somewhere, but the two that matter are the two it was built for.
Anyone who wants PayPal payouts from the dashboard on a plan under $149. More below.
Anyone who's going to be annoyed by the revenue limit. It's the single most misunderstood thing about Rewardful, and it's the reason people leave.
14-day trial. No free plan. Unlimited affiliates and the API on every plan. 0% on your revenue.
Managed Payouts, where Rewardful pays your affiliates, cost 3% and are funded by ACH. Affiliates pay the withdrawal fees on their end.
Here's the thing that catches people. The monthly revenue limit counts the full sale value of every payment from every referred customer. Not the commission. Not the first payment. Every renewal, forever, from anyone an affiliate ever sent you, whether or not you're still paying commission on them.
So a Starter plan at $7,500 a month sounds like plenty for a new program. Then you've got 60 referred customers paying $129 a month, your commission window closed on most of them a year ago, and Rewardful counts $7,740 of "referred revenue" and moves you to Growth. Then to Enterprise. The limit is measured against your success with the tool, and the clock never resets.
When you exceed it, you're upgraded automatically. On annual billing, you're moved to the next annual tier. I couldn't find a documented grace period.
At $15,000 a month in affiliate-attributed revenue, Rewardful is $99. At $30,000 it's $149. At $75,000 it's $299. Compare that to Tolt at $99 and $199 for similar caps, or FirstPromoter at $99 and $149. All three land within a few dollars of each other until you're big, and then Rewardful's ladder is the most expensive of the three because it keeps climbing where the others go to "contact us."
The Stripe integration is as good as it gets. Connect, import plans, set a commission, done. Coupon codes are created in Stripe through Rewardful, so attribution by code works without a separate step. Refunds and failed payments claw back commissions on their own.
The affiliate portal is clean. From my side as an affiliate it's a link, a stats page, and an email when a commission lands. That's all I want from it.
And the community. Rewardful is the default in every "indie SaaS stack" post from 2020 onward. When something breaks, someone has written about it. That's worth something when you're one person and the affiliate program isn't your main job.
Below Enterprise, "payouts" means Rewardful gives you a list of who's owed what and you pay them. Export a CSV, upload it to PayPal mass pay, mark as paid. One-click PayPal from inside the dashboard is Enterprise only, which starts at $149.
Managed Payouts are the alternative on any plan. Rewardful takes 3%, funds by ACH, pays your affiliates, and handles the tax forms. That's the only way to get W-9s and 1099s handled by the tool. If you're on Starter or Growth and paying affiliates yourself, tax forms are your job.
What gets you out: the API is on every plan. Rewardful says export is easy, and at least one published switcher (Viraly, who moved to Rekomi in June 2026) confirmed the export landed cleanly. You pay affiliates from your own money unless you're on Managed Payouts. Attribution is on Stripe customers, so the referral record is in your Stripe account.
What keeps you in: the default link domain is a rewardful.com subdomain, and ad blockers kill it. A custom domain needs Growth at $99. So on Starter your links are blockable and die when you leave; on Growth they're yours but still route through Rewardful's tracking. There's no help article on exporting that I could find, which is odd for a tool that says it's easy.
And one thing to know going in: Rewardful doesn't import historical commissions when you move to it. If you're switching from another tool, your affiliates' earnings history starts at zero on Rewardful's side.
Stripe and Paddle (including Paddle Classic) natively. API and webhooks on every plan. Zapier via the API. Rewardful lists "20+ platforms" but the ones with real one-click connections are the two billing providers.
Not supported natively: Lemon Squeezy, Polar, Chargebee, Shopify, WooCommerce, Kajabi, ThriveCart, Teachable.
Pull affiliates and referrals through the API or ask support for the export before you cancel. Check your Stripe customers for Rewardful's metadata; that's your attribution record and it stays. Build the new program first, re-issue every link, double-run for a month. If you were on Managed Payouts, download the tax forms your affiliates submitted.
Affonso, Dub, Tolt and Rekomi all have Rewardful importers. The exit is well-trodden.
Rewardful is the safe choice, and safe is a real thing to want. Stable owner, huge community, clean Stripe integration, easy export. If you're on Stripe, you want the tool everyone else uses, and you're not fussed about multi-tier, start here.
The reason to look elsewhere is the revenue limit. It's the only tool in this bracket where your bill rises with customers you stopped paying commission on years ago. If your product is subscription SaaS with low churn, that's not a quirk, it's the pricing model. Tolt caps on partner-referred revenue the same way but tops out at $199. FirstPromoter stops at $149 unless you're huge. Affonso starts at €15. Do the math on year three, not month one.

The cheapest serious affiliate tool for Stripe, Paddle and Polar SaaS: €15/mo entry with revenue caps, managed payouts from €29, tax forms at €79. Young company, export is "email the founder". Directify runs its program on it.
B2B SaaS affiliate tool with a built-in marketplace of SaaS-literate affiliates. The cheapest network for B2B software, but the marketplace is $399/mo annual-only and the $99 entry plan is a 12-month contract. Research-backed review.
Stripe, Paddle and Chargebee affiliate tool with one-invoice auto payouts, tax forms, and an MCP server. $99/mo entry (up from $29 in 2023), 2% on payouts, single-tier, three native integrations. Research-backed review.
